Timeline for Scholarships

Richmond Public Schools seniors, our scholarship application portal is now closed.

The scholarship application for the Class of 2025 will open next spring.

  • Students can apply for and be considered for several scholarships by completing our online application at the Kaleidoscope Scholarship Application Portal.

  • Applications due

    Students can work with their School Counselors and Future Center Navigators to complete their applications.

  • Scholarship awards announced

    Recipients will be notified and provided with award packets.

  • Funds are disbursed

    Scholarship checks are sent directly to the Financial Aid office at your college.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

  • Applicant must be 19 years or younger when applying.

  • Applicant must have attended Richmond Public Schools for at least 1 year and currently be enrolled at Armstrong High School, Franklin Military Academy, Huguenot High School, John Marshall High School, Open High School, Richmond Community High School, Richmond High School for the Arts or Thomas Jefferson High School and on track to graduate in the year applying.

  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 or higher

  • Applicant must be accepted into an accredited college, university or community college before graduation.

Scholarships Offered

Students can apply for and be considered for several scholarships by completing our online application at the Kaleidoscope Scholarship Application Portal.

  • In honor of Adele Johnson, former Executive Director of the RPS Education Foundation who passed away in 2021. Recipients are awarded based on their service to the community and/or interests or talent in the arts.

  • Dr. Alvin L. Crawley graduated from George Wythe High School now known as Richmond High School for the Arts in 1979. Dr. Crawley was a lifelong educator. He was the first African American Assistant Superintendent of Schools in the Arlington Public Schools and first African American Superintendent of Schools in the Alexandria City Public Schools. Dr. Crawley passed away last spring. His estate made a donation to the RPS Education Foundation to establish a scholarship for RHSA students. GPA of 2.5 or higher.

  • In honor of Benjamin Lambert III, a former member of the VA General Assembly and leader in the Richmond community. GPA of 3.2 or higher. Students majoring in politics or math and planning to attend an HBCU wil be considered.

  • For students planning to pursue studies towards a helping profession such as teaching, health careers, mental wellness professional and /or social work. GPA of 3.0 of higher. Apply here.

  • Supported by KR Scholars, a non profit organization, this scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to attend an HBCU. GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • This scholarship is supported by Dr. Hezekiah Braxton III, a 1979 graduate of John F. Kennedy HS and his family. The scholarship supports the purchase of books and supplies for a student from Armstrong High School who is attending an HBCU. 

  • General scholarships are supported by several different donors and the general scholarship funds of the RPS Education Foundation.  GPA of 2.0 of higher

  • This scholarship is supported by Mr. Charity, a 2009 graduate of George Wythe High School, now known as Richmond School for the Arts (RHSA). Recipients from RHSA are selected based on their academic record, service and leadership in their communities.  GPA of 3.0 of higher

  • This scholarship is supported by the family of Susan Braxton Mayo, a 1980 graduate of Armstong-Kennedy High School. The scholarship supports the purchase of books and supplies for a student from Armstrong High School who is attending an HBCU.
