Focusing our efforts

Richmond Public Schools Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that partners with the school district to improve student learning and achievement in preparation for success in college, career, and community.   The Foundation’s role is to seek private sector philanthropy to support new and existing evidence-based programs and enrichment activities.  Over the past five years more than $5 million has been raised to enhance the learning and teaching opportunities of students and teachers respectively.

  • Presented $500+ grants to 61 teachers for classroom enhancements such as technology, books, equipment, and fieldtrips
  • Awarded 42 scholarships to graduating seniors who attend college or career training
  • Heightened the reading skills of students participating in the MARSS literacy program that matches first graders with high school mentors to read together twice weekly
  • Collected new and gently used instruments that were distributed to budding musicians
  • Honored eight RPS alumni for their professional accomplishments and community service at the Foundation’s  Living Legacies Breakfastkids9
  • Assisted four fundraising partners as their fiscal sponsor by providing donor services, financial management and reporting
